Ageing

Builds strength through controlled precipitation.

Ageing is a controlled heat treatment process performed at specific temperatures to develop the desired mechanical properties, hardness and temper condition in aluminium alloys.

  • Improves strength and hardness
  • Enhances dimensional stability
  • Achieves desired temper (e.g., T6, T5)
Commonly used for 2xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx series alloys.

Solution heat treatment

Dissolves unwanted phases for better properties.

The aluminium is heated to a high temperature to dissolve soluble phases and create a homogeneous solid solution, followed by rapid quenching to retain the desired structure.

  • Increases formability
  • Provides a uniform microstructure
  • Prepares the material for ageing
Typical temperature 530–560°C (depending on alloy).

Annealing

Restores softness and relieves stress.

Annealing is a heat treatment process where the material is heated to a specific temperature and then cooled slowly. It reduces internal stresses, improves ductility and enhances workability.

  • Relieves residual stresses
  • Improves ductility and toughness
  • Restores workability for further processing
Commonly used for 1xxx, 3xxx and some 5xxx series alloys.

Special cycles

Tailored treatments for unique requirements.

We offer customised heat treatment cycles such as retrogression and re-ageing (RRA), over-ageing and multi-step cycles to meet specific customer needs and complex alloy requirements.

  • Improves stress corrosion resistance
  • Optimises strength-to-formability balance
  • Supports advanced aerospace and defence applications
Used for High-performance and specialised alloys.

Every lot tested.
Certificate with every shipment.

Mechanical property verification is standard for all heat-treated lots. A tensile specimen is machined from a representative profile from each ageing charge. Tensile strength, yield strength (Rp0.2), and elongation are measured and recorded. Brinell hardness is measured as a process check.
